December 2, 2015 – The S.J. Quinney College of Law hosted a celebration honoring Linda Stephenson’s retirement. Stephenson worked for the College of Law for 29 years during which time she served as a law librarian and adjunct professor of law. Stephenson earned her J.D. from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and her M.A. in library and information science from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She served as the head of information access services at the S.J. Quinney Law Library where she supervised the circulation and reference departments. Professor Stephenson taught the legal research component of the first-year legal methods class and an advanced legal research class to second- and third-year students.
During the celebration Rita Reusch, Professor Emerita and former Law Library Director, Melissa Bernstein, Director of the James E. Faust Law Library, and Wayne McCormack , E. W. Thode Professor of Law, shared the impact Stephenson had on the College of Law. It was also announced that the approval process for Stephenson’s Professor Emerita status his underway.
