Anghie receives honorary degree by the University of Kent

University of Law S.J. Quinney College of Law Professor Tony Anghie received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the University of Kent on July 16. The award was given by Dr. Luis Eslava who shared how Anghie’s work has revolutionized the understanding of how international law has contributed to an unequal global system. Eslava also discussed the impact of Anghie’s influential book, Imperialism, Sovereignty and the Making of International Law, his mentorship of younger scholars and his contribution to the work of Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL) scholarship. Eslava concludes:’In these difficult times, Prof Anghie’s commitment to the promotion of a different global order stands out as a reminder of the value of academic rigor, cultural democracy and historical justice’.
