Free Windows 7 and Office 2010

Hello NRLFers. Please take advantage of the U IT departments offer. The following software is available for free:

  • Office Professional Plus 2010 for Windows
  • Office 2011 for Mac
  • Office Enterprise 2007 for Windows
  • Windows 7 Professional Operating System Upgrades

If you don’t have the current version of Office, it’s time to get on the 2010/11 bandwagon. Professional Plus has it all — including Access and OneNote.

Also, most PCs ship with Windows 7 Home Premium.  Which is okay, but you can upgrade to Professional or Ultimate for free.  Both higher-end versions have some features that I highly recommend. Ultimate, for instance, allows for data encryption at the harddisc level.  Might not be a big deal now, who cares about your Methods paper anyway.  But, in real life (eg. legal practice), loss of client data probably constitutes malpractice.  Get familiar with the technology now.  (When you’re no longer a student, the upgrade will cost you $250.)  The process is very easy — all you need is a code, and Windows will upgrade itself. Email the NRLF if you need help.
