University Distinguished Professor and Stegner Center Director Bob Keiter was honored this fall by the Energy, Natural Resources & Environmental Law (ENREL) section of the Utah State Bar with their Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes Bob Keiter’s leadership in the field of environmental and natural resources law; the importance of his scholarship, publications, and service on advisory boards; and the role the Stegner Center has played locally, regionally, and nationally in promoting education and dialogue about the pressing environmental issues of our time.
In reflecting on Bob Keiter’s nomination for this year’s award, Section Chair Stephen Bloch (’97) said, “For more than twenty five years Professor Keiter has taught, mentored and enriched the natural resources bar in Utah. The Energy, Natural Resources & Environmental Law Section of the Utah State Bar is pleased to honor him with its Distinguished Service award, an annual award given to a member of the legal community whose work and career deserve special recognition.”
In accepting the award, Bob expressed his appreciation for the honor and the pleasure he has derived in observing his former students’ professional accomplishments. He also acknowledged the role his colleagues at the Quinney College of Law have played in developing the Stegner Center and its programs over the years, making it an important educational resource for the state’s lawyers and policy makers. Professor Keiter joins an elite group of Utah practitioners and scholars who previously were honored with ENREL’s Distinguished Service Award.
