Mary Milner (Class of 2014) had the paper she wrote for Professor Robin Craig as an independent study project accepted for publication by the University of Oregon’s Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation. Mary’s paper is entitled “Water Law Meets Participatory Democracy: A Klamath Basin Example.” It is an interdisciplinary paper that uses social movement theory to analyze the evolution of the Klamath Basin negotiations that culminated in two 2010 agreements to remove four dams from the system, easing the multiple resource demands on this stressed system. The paper grew out of Professor Craig’s Water Law class in Spring 2013 and Mary’s growing fascination with the Klamath Basin system.
