S.J. Quinney College of Law

Professor Craig appointed to IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law

Posted on September 27, 2016August 12, 2020 by Jonelle White

Robin_Craig_Ocean_250pxRobin Craig, the William H. Leary Professor and Acting Director of the Stegner Center at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, was appointed in January 2016 to the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s  World Commission on Environmental Law.

The post will allow Craig to work with other scholars from around the world to carry out the organization’s mission, which is to assure the integrity and conserve the diversity of nature through the promotion of ethical, legal and institutional concepts and instruments that advance environmental, social, cultural and economic sustainability —and to strengthen the capacity of governments, the judiciary, prosecutors, and other stakeholders as they develop and implement environmental law.

At the S.J. Quinney College of Law, Craig teaches Property to first-year students and Environmental Law, Water Law, Ocean & Coastal Law, and Toxic Torts to upper-division students. She is also a faculty affiliate of the University’s Global Change & Sustainability Center.

Craig’s research focuses on “all things water,” especially the impact of climate change on freshwater resources and the oceans, the Clean Water Act, and the intersection of water and energy law. She also has written several articles and book chapters on constitutional environmental law, administrative law, and statutory interpretation. She is the author, co-author, or editor of eleven books and her publications include over 100 law review articles and book chapters.
