Professor Cassell Files Brief in U.S. Supreme Court on Behalf of BP Victims

On July 26, Paul Cassell, a professor at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, filed a brief on behalf of the victims of the 2005 explosion at BP’s Texas City, Texas refinery that killed 15 and left hundreds injured.

Cassell, a former federal judge and victims’ rights advocate, argued that the U.S. Supreme Court should block lower court action on a “shockingly lenient” criminal plea until plaintiffs can file a formal appeal.
