Leslie Francis, a professor of law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, is quoted in the current issue of Utah CEO magazine on how the new health care reform package recently enacted by Congress might impact Utah businesses.
In the article, titled “Doctor’s Orders,” Francis notes that, although it’s too early to make predictions about the law’s long-term effects, measures like wellness plans may ultimately lead to healthier employees.
“It’s really hard to know now how this stuff comes into play four years from now,” Francis said, “but what people hope is that there will be an overall steadiness of costs. My hope is that with more regularization of health care and no pre-existing condition exclusions, employers will have a more predictable situation.”
