On Saturday, November 19, more than 50 S.J. Quinney College of Law alumni and students came together to provide hours of community service at the James Russell Head Start School in Salt Lake City as part of the Young Alumni Association’s annual “Service and Schmoozing” event. The project was co-sponsored by the College of Law’s Professional Development Office. Volunteers assembled information packets for parents, helped prepare “wish list tags” for the annual “Operation Chimney Drop” toy and clothing drive, and painted recycling bins. Tyler Buswell, vice president of the Young Alumni Association and attorney at Kirton & McConkie, headed up the project on behalf of the Association. Buswell expressed the sentiments of many in attendance when he said that the “high turnout of law students and alums to this service project made me proud to be associated with the S.J. Quinney College of Law.”
This is the third year that the Young Alumni Association has partnered with Head Start. According to Buswell, Head Start “provides great service to low-income children and families,” and “we hope to continue our relationship for years to come.” To learn more about Head Start and Operation Chimney Drop click here.
