The concept of Indigent Defense—and Utah’s failure to provide counties with financial support or other resources for public defense—are two of the topics explored in a recent segment of ABC 4’s County Seat program that includes an interview with Emily Chiang, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Utah College of Law and the director of the College’s Public Policy Clinic. The program also mentions a report issued by the ACLU of Utah that clinic students contributed to called Failing Gideon: Utah’s Flawed County-By-County Public Defender System.
The program is designed to provide background for a roundtable on the subject of indigent defense that also features Chiang. That program will be broadcast on Sunday, April 29 at 8:00 a.m. on channel 4.
