Cassell Quoted in NY Times Article Critical of Overcriminalization

Paul Cassell, a Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, was quoted in a November 24 article in The New York Times, “Right and Left Join Forces on Criminal Justice.”

The article examines the “emerging consensus on the right that the criminal justice system is an aspect of big government that must be contained.”

Cassell, a former federal judge, comments on the government’s seizure of private property said to have been used in a crime, stating, “A joint on a yacht and the whole thing is forfeited.”
