Administrative Law Judge John T. Vernieu, `50, Passes June 11, 2014

The Honorable John T. Vernieu, ’50, retired administrative law judge for the state of New York, died peacefully at home in Murrieta, California, on June 11, 2014, a week after his 91st birthday. A native of Ogden, he had a long and varied law career. Recruited by the Nelson A. Rockefeller administration, he became an administrative law judge for the Public Service Commission of the state of New York, serving in that position for 23 years. Vernieu was predeceased by his wife, Betty. Survivors include his children, Peggy A. Vernieu of Berkeley, California, John B. Vernieu of Wildomar, California, and Mary C. Vernieu of Venice, Calif; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
