With the pursuit of LEED Platinum Certification, the new S.J. Quinney College of Law building is not only a world class learning institute – but an exciting catalyst for leadership in the area of sustainable development and practices.
Working to achieve those goals is the Green Team, a collaborative group of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and interested community members working to identify and implement sustainability programs that complement the new building’s green design features.
We are very excited for the opportunity to share with the SJQ community the amazing and cutting edge programs and features associated with the rising building.
Over the coming months and years this Blog will serve several functions:
- Inform the SJQ community about the actions of the Green Team such as implementing green procurement policies, energy saving initiatives, recycling programs etc..
- Provide updates on and context for the innovative design features of the building as they are installed. See the really cool Geothermal Cooling unit video below as a great example!
- Assemble resources on sustainability topics and initiatives to support the SJQ community in leaving a lighter environmental footprint.
- Most importantly – engage YOU the building user in the conversation about how to best achieve the green goals of the Team and building.
Over the last 100 years the S.J. Quinney College of Law has developed a legacy of not only top-notch academics, but also high caliber and innovative environmental programs. The new LEED Platinum law building and the Green Team are putting those thoughts into action.
Please join us by visiting the Blog regularly and participating in this exciting new endeavor!
