On January 5, 2013, Michele Straube, Director of the Wallace Stegner Center’s Environmental Dispute Resolution (EDR) Program, will speak about Environmental Dispute Resolution in Utah as a panel member at an Association of American Law Schools (AALS) program, “Environmental Conflict Resolution: A Report Card.” The event will be held January 5, 2013, in New Orleans.  The University of Oregon School of Law’s Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation will publish the AALS panel proceedings, as well as Straube’s paper, “”Report Card on Environmental Dispute Resolution in Utah — Grade: Incomplete, But Showing Promise” in its Winter 2013 issue.

In extending the invitation, the AALS noted that members of its ADR Executive Committee were “thoroughly impressed” with Straube’s paper and believe she will “make a terrific addition to the panel.”

“It is a great honor to be invited to join the panel of national experts, and I look forward to sharing the successes and challenges of environmental and natural resource collaborative efforts in Utah,” Straube said.

Inaugurated early in 2012, the Stegner Center’s Environmental Dispute Resolution Program promotes collaboration, mediation, and other dispute resolution processes as a means to address contemporary environmental conflicts.
