Professor Jorge Conteras has been named a distinguished professor of law, effective July 1, 2025.
“Congratulations on this noteworthy accomplishment that positions you to receive one of the most prestigious recognitions available at the University of Utah. This award is reserved for faculty members who exemplify the highest goals of scholarship and dedication to teaching,” said Provost Mitzi Montoya in a letter about the award.
Conteras directs Utah Law’s IP and technology law program and is an affiliated researcher at Huntsman Cancer Institute and associate professor of human genetics at the University of Utah. He examines the intersections of intellectual property, antitrust law, technical standardization, and has written or edited 14 books and published more than 150 scholarly articles and chapters. Contreras currently serves co-chair of the interdisciplinary division of the ABA’s section of science and technology law and as a member of the advisory board of the American Antitrust Institute.
