Professor Brigham Daniels, a visiting professor in the Wallace Stegner Center for Land, Resources and the Environment, was recently interviewed by Fox 13 News about the U.S. Supreme Court’s May ruling about wetlands. The Court’s decision now means that wetlands can only be regulated under the Clean Water Act if they have a “continuous surface connection” to larger, regulated bodies of water.
“[Utah is] going to have dirtier water or we’re going to have to pay to clean it. It means we’re going to have more flooding and it means that we’re going to have less wildlife and wildlife habitat by that,” Daniels explained about how the ruling could affect Utah.
