On Friday, February 5, 2010, the Pax Natura Foundation will honor Robert Keiter and Jan Nystrom of the Wallace Stegner Center for Land, Resources and the Environment at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law with Executive Special Recognition Pax Natura Awards for their “enduring commitment to the environment through providing a forum of education, research and discussion on the topics of natural resources, climate change and environmental issues.”

Keiter, a Professor of Law at the College of Law, is the Director of the Center. Nystrom is the Associate Director. In addition to its popular annual Symposium, the Stegner Center hosts regular readings, topical Green Bag lunches, conferences, and other events designed to provide public education in the areas of natural resources and environmental law and policy.

janwebKeiter said, “It’s a real honor to receive this special recognition award from The Pax Natura Foundation. Through the Wallace Stegner Center, with the regular collaboration of my colleagues at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, I’ve had the unique privilege of addressing and seeking to educate the public about many of the vexing environmental issues confronting our society. That the Pax Natura Foundation is committed to addressing and solving these same important problems makes this award truly special.”

The Pax Natura Foundation was founded in Salt Lake City to preserve tropical rain forests, home to 50 percent of all forms of life on earth.
