Leslie Francis, distinguished Alfred C. Emery Endowed Professor of Law and distinguished professor of philosophy, will co-present at the University of Utah School of Medicine’s 2022 OB-GYN grand rounds series on January 13 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. The presentation is open to the public, and will be given online via Zoom.
The presentation, titled “Abortion 2022: How we got here and how medical and legal professionals can help us move forward,” will discuss the current state of abortion practice and law, and the likely challenges for OB-GYN practice if abortion restrictions go into effect.
Francis will be joined by co-presenter David Turok, who is chief of the Division of Family Planning at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Turok is director of the division’s ASCENT Center, which advances sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice through research, policy and education.
Francis is director of Utah Law’s Center for Law and Biomedical Sciences (LABS)—a dynamic, interdisciplinary group of faculty and students engaged in research and teaching about law and the biomedical sciences. The center’s health law program is ranked 32nd nationally by U.S. News and World Report.
