New law graduates nationwide are earning less.
The median reported full time salary for a “long term” job for the class of 2011 (nationwide) is $60,000—reflecting a 17 % drop since 2009. Obviously this is an indication of the tough economy that new law grads face, and a reflection of the reality that many of the large firms, which used to pay top dollar for graduates, are not hiring at nearly the same levels as in the past. It may also reflect, in some small part, that law schools nationwide are working to get better and more detailed salary data from their graduates.
