Tribal nations were some of the hardest-hit areas by the COVID-19 pandemic. Heather Tanana, a member of the Navajo Nation and a researcher at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, decided to take matters into her own hands after her own aunt passed away from COVID-19. She formed the Utah Tribal COVID-19 Relief, a group that was responsible for gathering and delivering over 19,000 pounds of donated supplies to the Navajo Nation. This important work earned Tanana the prestigious award of Lawyer of the Year from the Energy, Natural Resources & Environmental Law section of the Utah State Bar.

Tonight the Utah Minority Bar Association awarded Tonight the Utah Minority Bar Association awarded 4 of our students scholarships based on their academic achievement, record of service to racial and ethnic communities, and potential to positively impact and represent Utah's racial and ethnic communities in their future legal career.

After a 36 year teaching career, Professor Terry K After a 36 year teaching career, Professor Terry Kogan taught his last class at the S.J. Quinney College of Law today. Professor Kogan will be on research leave next semester and then will retire in June. While we will miss him, we congratulate him on an outstanding career and wish him the best. Thank you Professor Kogan!
Over the weekend, the S.J. Quinney College of Law Over the weekend, the S.J. Quinney College of Law was represented by two teams in the New York Bar National Moot Court Competition.

Team 1: Alex Allred, Brady Nash, Cate Vaden
Team 2: Dan Biddulph, Jacob Roberts, Mikayla Irvin (not pictured)

Both of our teams made it to the semi-final round. Team 1 was the Regional Competition Winner, which means they will be invited to the National Competition in New York in February.

Alex Allred won the Top Speaker award in the competition.
