The Brian M. Barnard Civil Rights & Liberties Memorial Scholarship was established to honor Brian Barnard, an attorney who dedicated his life and practice to protecting the personal civil rights and liberties of individuals who lacked the choice or power to do so on their own. This scholarship will recognize College of Law students who have a demonstrated interest in and commitment to practicing civil rights and liberties law.
Students can demonstrate interest in and commitment to civil rights and liberties by taking civil rights and liberties coursework, participating in our experiential program with placements working to protect clients' civil rights and liberties (including in-house clinics or field placements), or engaging with organizations dedicated to protecting citizens' civil rights and liberties.
