FAQ: Who Is in the Northwest Consortium of Law Schools and How Can They Help Me?

The S.J. Quinney College of Law is a member of the Northwest Consortium of law schools, along with other public and private law schools in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona and Utah.  SJQ has established reciprocal agreements with the career services offices these law schools which allow students and alumni who are interested in employment out of Salt Lake City area to use their career services offices.  Usually, the legal career services offered include the electronic job boards of these schools.  The exception to this is that SJQ students are not given passwords to the online job boards at the two Arizona law schools.  Most of the job boards are password protected; the updated list of passwords can be found in the PDO folder on the shared network drive.

As a member of the Northwest Consortium, the Professional Development Office collaborates with our fellow consortium schools in additional ways.  Each year, we receive updated law firm lists from the other consortium schools, which you will find in the PDO folder on the shared network drive.  The Northwest Consortium schools also share the task of updating the Judicial Clerkship database every summer.  Lastly, the Northwest Consortium schools sponsor the Northwest Public Interest/Government Job Fair in Seattle and Portland every February.  Please see the article in this issue of the Career Brief for more information on the 2010 Fair.
