Spring to D.C. program costs
You'll pay the same tuition you would if you were taking classes in Salt Lake City, with a modest additional fee to cover access to critical Hinckley Institute resources, as well as things like discounted D.C. Metro passes. You will also be responsible for your own transportation to and from D.C., and other living expenses while there. All of this makes it important to budget for the semester, make sure your financial aid is in order, take advantage of things like discounted housing (see the section below) and keep in mind that D.C.'s cost of living may be more expensive than in Salt Lake City.
Housing options
You can live anywhere you prefer in D.C., but we strongly encourage you to consider staying at the Orrin G. Hatch Center's student housing. Managed by the amazing folks at the Hinckley Institute, it is comprised of two connected brownstones in one if the best D.C. neighborhoods. The housing is a bit more like a dorm than you may have in Utah, but it is heavily subsidized, is an ideal location, and classes will be taught in the adjacent carriage house. It is also convenient to the D.C. Metro station at Dupont Circle, giving you ready access to all of DC and the surrounding communities in Virginia and Maryland. Just like finding your field placement, the final decision on and responsibility for securing housing rests with you.
