Could you survive a month in poverty?

In 2022, nearly 272,933 Utahns (8.2%) lived below the poverty line.

Before we can alleviate poverty, we must try to understand it.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Salt Lake City, Utah – In the poverty simulation, participants assume the roles of low-income family members living on a limited budget. The experience is divided into four 15-minute sessions, each representing one week in which participants must provide for their family and maintain their home. The experience is followed by debriefing and discussion.

The simulation can:

  • Improve outcomes
  • Change attitudes
  • Shift perspectives
  • Spark conversation
  • Influence policy

Join us for an innovative, first-hand experience of what it’s like to live in a typical household experiencing poverty.
