Law Night at Pioneer Theatre Company

January 23, 2014 @ 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm

A CLE event with Pioneer Theatre Company, “A Few Good Men”

Can You Handle the Truth?

Two Hours of Professionalism and Civility CLE Will Never Be More Thought-Provoking!
In a unique collaboration with the Utah State Bar Association and the S.J. Quinney College of Law, Pioneer Theatre Company will present a special evening of live theatre, together with an informative and enlightening pre-show program examining dynamics between lawyers, clients, and the ever-elusive truth.

5:30 – 5:45 p.m. Check-in, Sutherland Moot Courtroom
5:45 – 6:45 p.m. Pre-Show Program/CLE, Sutherland Moot Courtroom
6:45 – 7:15 p.m. Light Buffet Reception, Sutherland Moot Courtroom
7:30 p.m. – A Few Good Men at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre (next door to the Law School)

The pre-show CLE will include a panel discussion exploring how, in representing clients, the truth is often elusive or at least multifaceted. A Few Good Men explores this idea against the backdrop of military culture and Marine Corps values. But the kinds of conflicts the play presents are not unique to the military or military lawyers. Panelists will discuss what it means to listen to a client, understand what the client wants, and ethically handle difficult clients with civility in complex situations—in the courtroom, at the negotiating table, or in a military combat zone.

The pre-show CLE program will be followed by an entertaining evening of theatre. Two hours of CLE professionalism and civility credit will be offered; one hour for the Pre-Show program, plus an additional hour for those also attending A Few Good Men that evening.

Lawyers and non-lawyers alike are encouraged to attend the pre-show CLE program designed to provide the audience with thought-provoking insights into the characters and conflicts within the play A Few Good Men.
