Jamie Nabozny will speak at the College of Law in an event sponsored by the Outlaws student group. Nabozny grew up in a small Wisconsin town and was bullied for being gay. He later won a landmark federal lawsuit against his school administrators for failing to stop the harassment.

In a short address, Nabozny will discuss being a consumer of law, addressing topics such as:

  • At what point did you decide to file a lawsuit?
  • Who did you contact?
  • How did you know who to contact?
  • How did the decision get made to sue?
  • How as it being a plaintiff?
  • Empowering?  Did you ever feel used? (by the movement, or by your attorneys?)
  • How was working with lawyers?  With LGBT organizations?
  • What were the major moments in the litigation?
  • What was it like to testify?

There will also be a question-and-answer session and lunch will be provided to attendees.
