Jamie Nabozny will speak at the College of Law in an event sponsored by the Outlaws student group. Nabozny grew up in a small Wisconsin town and was bullied for being gay. He later won a landmark federal lawsuit against his school administrators for failing to stop the harassment.
In a short address, Nabozny will discuss being a consumer of law, addressing topics such as:
- At what point did you decide to file a lawsuit?
- Who did you contact?
- How did you know who to contact?
- How did the decision get made to sue?
- How as it being a plaintiff?
- Empowering? Did you ever feel used? (by the movement, or by your attorneys?)
- How was working with lawyers? With LGBT organizations?
- What were the major moments in the litigation?
- What was it like to testify?
There will also be a question-and-answer session and lunch will be provided to attendees.
