Building on our conversations during 2020, please join Dean Martell Teasley (Social Work) and Dean Elizabeth Kronk Warner (Law) as they continue their discussion of race and racism. Teasley and Kronk Warner will review the book, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, by Isabel Wilkerson. Caste is an eye-opening story about how America has been shaped by a hidden caste system and is a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.
The presentation by Teasley and Kronk Warner will conclude with a discussion about what the future may hold and the work that must be done to help unravel the roots of systemic racism. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the origins of systemic racism, as well as how it manifests itself in today’s society.
