Keynote Address by Mark Britton

Mark is the founder and CEO of Avvo (www.avvo.com), the leading online legal marketplace connecting consumers and lawyers. Prior to founding Avvo, Mark was the executive vice president of Worldwide Corporate Affairs of InterActiveCorp Travel (IACT) and Expedia, Inc. (NSDQ: EXPE). In this position, Mark oversaw all accounting, finance, strategy, corporate development, legal, human resources and government relations functions for the IACT companies, including Expedia, Hotels.com, Hotwire, Classic Custom Vacations and Interval International. Mark was also Expedia’s first general counsel and, from 2011 to 2015, sat on the Board of Directors of Orbitz Worldwide (NYSE: OWW).

With Avvo’s success, Mark regularly speaks around the country on technology, consumer and legal issues. His media appearances include ABC’s Good Morning America, Fox Business News, CNN Money and Dow Jones MarketWatch. Mark also received Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award in 2015 and was previously named a “Seattle Top 25 Innovator” and “Tech Titan 2.0” by Seattle business magazines.

Mark received his law degree from George Washington University. He holds a degree in finance from Gonzaga University. Mark serves on Gonzaga’s Board of Regents.

Guest Seating & Tickets:
Tickets are not required to attend commencement and any interested attendees are welcome. The academic processional will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Families and guests not seated prior to the 10:00 a.m. start time will have to stay in the lobby and waiting areas until after all graduates and program participants have entered the auditorium.

Free parking is available at the Rice-Eccles Stadium. A shuttle service will be provided to Kingsbury Hall. We encourage you to use public transportation to our events. Take TRAX University line to the Stadium stop and walk a half block north. For other public transit options use UTA’s Trip Planner. The law school is on the Red Route for the University’s free campus shuttles (College of Law stop).
