The Law and Policy Program aims to produce actionable, pragmatic research on emerging legal issues to facilitate sound governmental decisionmaking that protects the environment and promotes a just and democratic society. On May 11, 2023, we had an opportunity to share some of our research on permitting with the House Natural Resources Committee, Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
It was an honor to be invited by Rep. Grijalva and Rep. Stansbury to testify before Congress on aspects of our research that are directly relevant to permit reform.

The following day, Rep. Grijalva and Rep. Stansbury authored an opinion piece about the importance of protecting NEPA. It emphasizing elements of our research regarding the primary causes of delay within the permitting process.
