ABA MEDIATION COMPETITION – Region 6
March 5 & 6, 2016

Schedule:
Saturday –
7:45-8:15AM Check-in for participants. Breakfast will be provided on 6th floor in room 6500 & then proceed to the Moot Courtroom for information.
(8:15 Judges and Mediators check in.)
8:30-9:00 Informal information session for student participants in the the Moot Courtroom while judges & mediators are prepped.
9:00-9:10 Judges, mediators, & students move to assigned rooms for first round of competition.
9:10-11:50 Mediation Sessions: judges read representation plans, self-analysis, judge scoring, & critique
11:50 First Round Ends

12:00-1:00PM Lunch on the 6th Floor.

1:00-1:15 Student participants meet in the Moot Courtroom.
(1:15 Judges and Mediators check in.)
1:30-2:00 Information and/or preparation for second round for student participants while judges & mediators are prepped.
2:00-2:10 Judges, mediators, & students move to assigned rooms for second round of competition.
2:10-4:50 Mediation Sessions: judges read representation plans, self-analysis, judge scoring, & critique
4:50 Round 2 ends. Scores are compiled

5:30 Finalists for Sunday are announced and light reception in the Moot Courtroom & pre-function space.

Sunday –

The University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law is located at 383 S. University Street in Salt Lake City.

 

Directions from Interstate 80: Heading eastbound on I-80 to Exit 126. Turn left onto 1300 East. In approximately 3 miles, turn right onto 400 S./ South Campus Drive. Go one block east to University St. The College of Law is located on the northeast corner.

Directions from SB Interstate 15: Heading south towards Las Vegas, take Exit 307. Turn left onto 400 South towards the mountains. Continue east on 400S./University Blvd., this will become 500 S. in approx. 2.5 miles. At 1300 East, turn left and then right at the next light that will be 400 S./South Campus Dr. Go one block to University Street.

Directions from NB Interstate 15: Heading north towards Ogden, take Exit 306 for 600 South. Stay in the left hand lane after you exit. Go two lights and turn left. After two more lights, you will need to turn right onto 400 South. Continue east on 400S./University Blvd., this will become 500 S. in approx. 2.5 miles. At 1300 East, turn left and then right at the next light that will be 400 S./South Campus Dr. Go one block to University Street.

Parking and Transportation
The nearest parking lots to the College of Law are immediately east, accessible off of South Campus Drive or the stadium lot to the south. Street parking is available on University St., 30 minutes on the east side and 2 hour limit on the west side. Meters are available in the northwest area of the parking lot directly east of the College of Law. Parking is enforced Monday to Friday from 6AM-8PM, it is open on Saturdays and Sundays (no permits required).  Please see the campus map for other parking lot locations.

Public transit options are conveniently located close to the College of Law. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has several bus routes that run in front of the building and the light rail system, TRAX, has a station one block to the south. For schedules and route information, please visit UTA’s website. To get to the College of Law from the Salt Lake Int’l Airport via TRAX, take the Green Line to the courthouse station and transfer to the Red Line to the stadium station. It is approximately $2.50/person for one-way trip.

There are also plenty of places to eat downtown and along 400 South in Salt Lake.
