Negotiation and Mediation Competitions

Competition courses may be offered, upon invitation by the supervising faculty member, to a limited number of students following the students’ outstanding performance in the related prerequisite skills course.  Students earn one credit for the competition course and compete regionally.  Finalists in regional competitions advance to the national finals.

ABA Negotiation Competition - following completion of the Lawyering Skills Survey course.

The competition simulates legal negotiations in which law students, acting as lawyers, negotiate a series of legal problems. The competition takes place during the fall semester.  Learn more

ABA Mediation Competition - following completion of the Lawyering Skills Survey, Mediation/Advanced Negotiation, or Alternative Dispute Resolution course.

The competition is designed to acquaint law students with advocacy skills in alternative dispute resolution processes, specifically mediation.  Competition occurs in the spring semester.  Learn more
